hI Bijoos, I would like to comment on the performance impact of the increased number of extents. Althogh i first had the same feeling that was conveyed as per your (tips of month may2000) I have done some research and found that there is no performance gain in reducing the number of extents and compressing it into one extent none at all with LMT's and minor gain in case of dictionary based tablespaces mainly due to strain in allocating the new extent Can i get any other opinions on this

hi sir, i am presently an investment banker, although i read computer science as a first degree. i want to change career and go back into IT. i have used your sybex books to prepare for my oracle exams. i did all the reading at home since because of my job i cant attent lectures. with the help of your book i was able to pass my intro to oracle 9i: SQL. i plan to take Oracle 9i DBA Funds 1 in the next 2 weeks, and i am qute confident. i actually want to finish all the four (OCA and OCP) exams by December 2003. my only problem is this- since i actually dont have any practical oracle experience, even when i become certified, how do i break into the labour market. could you please assist me with names of organizations that are willing to employ entry level applicants that have certification. i dont mind working for no salary at first, i just want to get the practical experience because i know certification without experience is nothing much. please assist thanks

Bijoo, We had a catastrophic loss of data recently.. Oracle 7.3.3, no redo logs, and we lost a few log dbf files.. The files we lost are strictly data files, not system files.. Is there a way to bring database up with rest of dbf files, so we can salvage atleast some data? All I need is to be pointed in right direction. TIA
